Itinerary
Arrival in Srinagar — Dal Lake & Houseboat Check-in
Arrive at Srinagar Airport / Railway Station and transfer to your comfortable accommodation. Check in to a charming houseboat or family-friendly hotel by the lake. After settling in, enjoy a gentle Shikara ride on Dal Lake—perfect for kids to spot local birdlife and floating gardens. Evening at leisure with an easy stroll along the lakeshore.
Important: Shikara rides are short and supervised; life jackets available for children.
Mughal Gardens, Shankaracharya & Local Markets
Spend a relaxed day exploring the famous Mughal Gardens — Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh — ideal for picnic breaks and family photos. Visit the hilltop Shankaracharya Temple (short family-friendly climb) for panoramic views of Srinagar. Conclude with a stroll through the local markets (Lal Chowk area) to see handicrafts and try local snacks.
Note: Gardens are stroller-friendly in most areas; bring a light stroller or carrier for younger children.
Day Trip to Sonamarg — Meadows & Mini Glacier View
Take a scenic drive to Sonamarg (approx. 2–3 hours). Enjoy easy walks on the meadows and, weather permitting, a short pony/horse ride to view the Thajiwas Glacier from the base — a thrilling but safe first-glacier experience for children. Return to Srinagar in the evening.
Tip: Carry warm layers and comfortable shoes; high-altitude sun exposure can be strong.
Transfer to Gulmarg — Gondola Rides & Meadow Time
Drive to Gulmarg after breakfast (approx. 2 hours). Check into a family-friendly hotel. Take the iconic Gulmarg Gondola (Phase 1; Phase 2 optional based on kids' comfort) to enjoy alpine views and expansive meadows. Kids can enjoy pony rides or gentle meadow strolls; plan a relaxed picnic if weather permits.
Important: Gondola cabins have seating limits — staff assist with family boarding. Phase 2 reaches higher altitude; consider children's tolerance before ascending.
Gulmarg Adventures — Easy Trails & Playtime
A full day in Gulmarg for family activities: easy nature trails suitable for small children, a guided short walk through wildflower patches (seasonal), and more pony rides or sledging in winter. Optionally, take Phase 2 of the Gondola for dramatic views if children are comfortable with higher altitudes.
Note: Keep hydration and sun protection handy. Activities adjusted by season (wildflowers in summer, snow play in winter).
Drive to Pahalgam — Betaab Valley & Riverfront
After breakfast, drive to Pahalgam (approx. 3–4 hours) with short scenic stops en route. Visit Betaab Valley — a family-favorite with easy walks and open lawns. Check into your hotel in Pahalgam and enjoy a relaxed evening by the riverside.
Tip: Betaab Valley has gentle paths and photo spots ideal for families.
Pahalgam: Aru Valley / Chandanwari & Cultural Time
Explore nearby Aru Valley or Chandanwari for short, safe nature walks, pony rides for kids, and picnic spots. In the afternoon, visit a local craft demonstration or a simple cultural session to introduce children to Kashmiri music and crafts.
Note: Activities are short and flexible to suit younger children's energy levels.
Return to Srinagar & Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Srinagar (approx. 2–3 hours) with a comfortable transfer to the airport or railway station for onward travel. If time allows, make a quick stop for last-minute shopping or a brief lakeside walk.
Important: Coordinate departure times carefully; transfers can be adjusted based on your flight/train schedule.

Kashmir Cabs and Rooms Both Left Us Speechless
We had been putting off a Kashmir trip for two years, mostly because neither my husband nor I trusted random operators. A friend suggested TourGrids, and honestly, the decision paid off. The hotels they booked — especially the houseboat in Srinagar and the resort in Gulmarg — were proper good, well above what I was expecting at that price point. What really stood out was how clean and prompt the cab transfers were. Every morning the driver was already waiting, no delays, no confusion about routes. The team sorted everything on call before we even landed. No surprise charges either, which matters a lot when you're travelling as a couple on a fixed budget.
Our Kashmir Coordinator Never Left Us Guessing
We booked our Kashmir trip through TourGrids for our anniversary, and honestly the coordinator assigned to us — Rahul — was the real reason everything went well. Right from the planning stage, he was available on WhatsApp at odd hours, patiently answering every small question my husband and I had. When our Srinagar hotel had a room issue on day two, he got it fixed within the hour without us having to chase anyone. The itinerary was properly planned around what we wanted — not some copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. No surprise charges at the end either. That kind of support genuinely makes a difference when you're travelling somewhere new.
First Time Trusting a Company With Kashmir
I'll be honest — booking a full trip through a travel company felt risky to me. My husband and I had always planned things ourselves, so handing over Kashmir to someone else was a little nerve-wracking. But TourGrids genuinely surprised us. Our coordinator Priya was available on WhatsApp throughout, answered every anxious question without making me feel like I was being annoying, and the itinerary she built around our dates was actually thoughtful — not just a copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cab driver was punctual, no hidden charges when we settled up. The whole trip just... worked. That kind of reliability is rare, and it means a lot when you're travelling somewhere as beautiful as Kashmir.
