Itinerary
Arrival, Transfer to Wayanad & Relaxed Lakeside Evening
Arrive at Kozhikode (Calicut) Airport / Railway Station and drive to Wayanad (approx. 2–3 hours). Check in to your Wayanad accommodation and unwind. In the late afternoon visit Pookode Lake for a gentle boat ride and family photos. Finish the day with a sunset view at Lakkidi Viewpoint.
Tip: Keep light rainwear handy during monsoon months. Evening strolls are kid-friendly and a great way to acclimatize.
Edakkal Caves & Heritage Walk
After breakfast, head to the iconic Edakkal Caves—famous for prehistoric petroglyphs. A moderate uphill walk (approx. 20–30 minutes) leads to the cave complex. Post-lunch explore the Wayanad Heritage Museum and nearby viewpoints. Evening free for a local market visit or optional cultural program.
Important: Edakkal involves uneven steps — suitable footwear recommended. Children should be supervised inside the caves.
Wildlife Safari & Banasura Sagar Dam
Early morning safari at Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (or Muthanga depending on permits) to spot elephants, deer, birds and possibly gaur. Return for a late breakfast and relax. In the afternoon visit Banasura Sagar Dam — enjoy a serene boat ride and panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
Note: Safari timings and availability are subject to park rules; permits included. Carry binoculars and a camera with zoom.
Chembra Peak Trek or Family Nature Alternatives
Day reserved for the Chembra Peak trek to the famous heart-shaped lake (popular but moderately strenuous). For families or those preferring less exertion, choose a shorter nature walk or visit Meenmutty Falls (short trek) and scenic viewpoints.
Safety Note: Chembra trek requires moderate fitness and prior permit; children under recommended age should avoid the full ascent. Pack water, snacks, sun protection and comfortable trekking shoes.
Kuruva Island & Tribal Village Experience
Visit Kuruva Island, a protected river island with easy boardwalks, birdlife and bamboo groves — ideal for families. Later, enjoy an authentic Tribal Village visit where local guides demonstrate traditional crafts, food and cultural practices. Evening at leisure with a campfire option at the resort (seasonal).
Cultural Tip: Be respectful when photographing tribal members; ask permission and avoid sensitive areas.
Local Shopping, Leisure & Departure
After breakfast, relax at the resort or visit local markets in Kalpetta for spices, tea, coffee and handicrafts. Check out and transfer to Kozhikode for your onward train/flight. End of the Wayanad Family Adventure package.
Pro Tip: Purchase packed spices (well-sealed) for safe travel home. If time permits, a quick stop at Thirunelli Temple can be arranged on request.

Kerala Houseboat Rebooked While We Were Still Upset
We had confirmed a houseboat stay in Alleppey for our anniversary, and two days before, the operator cancelled without warning. My wife was really disappointed — this was the one thing she had been looking forward to the whole trip. I called our coordinator at TourGrids around 9 PM expecting to hear 'we'll try', but by next morning he had a replacement houseboat booked, same stretch, actually better reviews than the original. No extra charge, no back and forth. Rest of the Kerala itinerary — Munnar, Fort Kochi, the drives — everything ran exactly as planned. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. This was our first time booking through a travel company and honestly it removed so much weight from the trip.
Kerala Took Shape Before I Touched a Browser
I was planning a Kerala trip for my wife and me and honestly had no idea where to start — backwaters, hill stations, beaches, it felt overwhelming. A friend suggested TourGrids, so I dropped them a message on WhatsApp. Within the hour, someone from their team called and just asked us what kind of trip we wanted. No sales pitch, proper conversation. Two calls later, the itinerary was ready — Munnar, Alleppey houseboat, Kovalam, all sequenced properly with cab transfers included. They adjusted the houseboat night when I asked, no fuss. Hotels were proper good, no hidden charges at the end. Planning something this detailed usually stresses me out, but this time it genuinely did not.
Kerala Hotels and Cabs Left Nothing to Complain
Travelled to Kerala with my wife last month and honestly the accommodations TourGrids arranged were the highlight. We stayed at a proper resort in Munnar and a lovely heritage property in Alleppey — both were well above what I'd have found on my own at that budget. No compromise on cleanliness or location. The cab transfers were equally solid — same driver for most legs, always on time, comfortable vehicle. No last-minute confusion about pickups or drop timings. Our coordinator Priya had everything pre-confirmed and shared details on WhatsApp the night before each transfer. We just had to show up. For a couple wanting a relaxed Kerala trip without the usual booking chaos, this worked out really well.
Kerala With a Stranger I Ended Up Trusting
First time booking through a travel company — I'd always planned trips myself because I didn't trust anyone with my money or my holiday. A colleague suggested TourGrids, so I got on a call with them before committing anything. They listened properly, no upselling, just asked what my wife and I actually wanted from Kerala. The itinerary they sent back felt personal — Alleppey, Munnar, the right balance of relaxed and packed. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time, and no hidden charges when we settled the final bill. The coordinator was reachable throughout, even when we had a small room query at night. Took one trip to change how I travel.
Kerala Houseboat Date Changed, Nobody Panicked But Them
Two days before our Alleppey houseboat stay, my husband realised he'd mixed up the dates on his leave — we needed to shift everything by one day. I was sure it was going to be a mess. Called our TourGrids coordinator around 8 PM, fully expecting bad news. He checked availability, spoke to the property, and had it sorted within the hour. Hotel in Munnar also got adjusted without any fuss. No extra charges were added without explanation, and he kept us updated through WhatsApp the whole time. Rest of the Kerala trip went exactly as planned — backwaters, spice gardens, the works. Genuinely relieved we didn't try to plan this ourselves.
Kerala Resorts and Cabs Both Felt Premium
We did Kerala as a couple trip last month and honestly the properties TourGrids picked were a cut above what I'd found on my own. The resort in Munnar had a valley view I wasn't even expecting, and the houseboat in Alleppey was proper good — clean, well-maintained, not the budget kind. What also stood out was how clean the cab arrangements were. Driver was always on time, car was comfortable, no confusion about pickups between destinations. Our coordinator Priya sorted everything before we even had to ask twice. No surprise charges at checkout, no last-minute scrambling. Kerala trips can get complicated with multiple transfers — this one just didn't feel that way.
