Itinerary
Arrival in Jaisalmer & Desert Orientation
Arrive at Jaisalmer by train or road. Meet-and-greet at the station/airport and transfer to your hotel. After check-in and a short rest, enjoy an introductory walk through the Jaisalmer bazaars to scout locations and test gear.
Late afternoon: Transfer to Sam Sand Dunes for a classic desert golden-hour session. Enjoy a 45–60 minute camel ride for elevated dune compositions and horizon silhouettes.
Evening: Dinner at a comfortable desert camp with a short music-and-storytelling session — ideal for environmental portraits and candid low-light practice.
Photography notes: Bring a wide-angle lens for dune panoramas and a telephoto for candid portraits. Carry water, sunscreen and a lens cloth.
Jaisalmer Fort Golden Hour & Old City Walk
Early-morning golden hour shoot from the ramparts of Jaisalmer Fort — capture warm sandstone tones and sweeping city panoramas.
Post-shoot: Guided exploration of Patwon Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli and narrow lanes for architectural detail studies.
Afternoon: Break and optional editing session or workshop focusing on composition and advanced RAW settings.
Sunset: Visit Bada Bagh for tomb-lined dusk compositions and long-exposure experiments.
Tips: For golden-hour rooftop shots, arrive 30–45 minutes before official sunrise/sunset. Local permissions may be required for tripods in some heritage sites; we assist with permits where possible.
Kuldhara & Khuri Dunes — Abandoned Village & Desert Patterns
Morning drive to the mysterious Kuldhara (abandoned village) to capture textured ruins, cracked earth details and evocative frames.
Midday: Return for a relaxed lunch and camera check. Focus on lens cleaning and battery swaps.
Late afternoon: Head to Khuri Sand Dunes for quieter dunes and sweeping lines — excellent for minimalist compositions and golden-hour backlighting.
Evening: Overnight in a tented camp with an optional guided astrophotography session to capture the Milky Way and star trails (season and weather permitting).
Photography tips: Use low ISO and long exposures for star work; a sturdy tripod and remote shutter release recommended.
Gadisar Lake Sunrise & Travel to Jodhpur
Pre-dawn shoot at Gadisar Lake — water reflections and local life at sunrise make for beautiful morning portrait frames.
After breakfast, check out and depart for Jodhpur (approx. 4–5 hour drive). En route there are opportunities for roadside landscape stops and small village portraits.
Evening arrival in Jodhpur: Light walk through the old city to get blue-house alleyway compositions and evening street scenes.
Tip: Keep a fast prime (35mm or 50mm) handy for market candids and low-light street portraits.
Mehrangarh Fort & Cultural Portraits in Jodhpur
Morning at Mehrangarh Fort for panoramic overlooks of Jodhpur; golden-hour windows and fort parapets offer layered compositions.
Explore Jaswant Thada and surrounding palaces for portrait and architectural studies.
Afternoon: Optional guided session in Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park for geological textures and close-up studies.
Evening: Capture sunset over the blue city from an elevated rooftop. Farewell group dinner with a cultural performance — great for environmental portraits and motion-capture practice.
Note: Some fort locations have entrance fees and camera charges; check on-site and carry small notes for incidental fees.
Departure — Final Frames & Transfer
Depending on your onward travel schedule, a short pre-departure shoot can be arranged in Jodhpur for any final shots or quick edits.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Jodhpur Station/Airport for your onward journey.
Optional extension: We can extend this into a broader 7–10 day Rajasthan Adventure package covering Jodhpur → Udaipur → Jaipur on request.
Final tips: Back up your memory cards daily and carry extra batteries. If you booked our astrophotography workshop, an edited star-stack from the trip can be delivered within 7–10 days.

Rajasthan Hotels Were a Genuine Step Up
We were honestly not expecting the kind of properties TourGrids put us in — my husband and I have done Rajasthan before on our own, and the difference was clear from the first night in Jaipur itself. The heritage hotel they booked had this whole courtyard setup, proper good vibes, nothing like those mid-range places we usually end up with. Udaipur and Jaisalmer stays were equally well chosen. And the cabs — always on time, clean cars, drivers who actually knew the routes. No waiting around, no last-minute confusion. Our coordinator had everything lined up before we even landed. Genuinely one of the better-planned trips we have taken as a couple.
