Itinerary
Arrival, Welcome and Sunset Introduction to Colombo
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Colombo. Settle in and enjoy a relaxed evening introduction to the city's culinary scene with a guided tasting walk: sample local sweets, fresh coconut water, and street snacks. Arrival times and private transfers will be arranged to suit your flight. End the day with a sunset drinks stop at a rooftop café overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Colombo Street Food, Markets and Heritage Walk
Spend the day exploring Pettah Market for spices, fresh produce and snacks. Join a guided Colombo street food tour to taste favorites such as kottu roti, hoppers (appa), short eats, and samosas. Visit the National Museum, the colonial waterfront, and take an evening tuk-tuk ride to explore hidden food stalls. This day is family-friendly: alternative mild spice options are available for children.
Scenic Train to Galle and Galle Fort Food Walk
Travel by scenic coastal train to Galle (approx. 2.5–3 hours). On arrival enjoy a curated Galle Fort Food Walk—seafood tastings, local sweets and the best roti shops inside the UNESCO-listed fort. Explore the fort's ramparts, Dutch architecture and artisanal boutiques. Return to the waterfront for sunset photos and a relaxed seafood dinner.
Hands-on Cooking Class and Coastal Flavors
Start the day with a local market visit in Galle to source ingredients. Take a hands-on cooking class focusing on Sri Lankan curry bases, sambols, and traditional desserts. Learn tips for balancing spices and how to prepare Maldivian-style seafood grills and coconut-based specialties. Enjoy the meal you prepared for lunch and free time in the afternoon to stroll the fort or relax on nearby beaches. Evening return to Colombo (private transfer). Vegetarian and child-friendly menus available on request.
Final Morning, Leisure and Departure
Enjoy a final leisurely breakfast at your Colombo hotel. Depending on your flight time, do last-minute shopping at Odel or local craft shops, or fit in a short visit to the Independence Square. Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure. If your flight is later in the day we can arrange an additional short culinary activity (tea tasting or pastry workshop).

Recent Sri Lanka Reviews
Sri Lanka Cost Less Than My Own Research
I spent two weeks trying to plan Sri Lanka independently — comparing hotels, checking cab rates, reading forums. Then a friend suggested TourGrids and honestly, their package came in cheaper than what I was piecing together myself. My husband and I got a 6-night trip with decent 4-star hotels, all intercity transfers, breakfast daily, and airport pickups both ways. No hidden charges when we actually paid — the final bill matched what was quoted on WhatsApp. The coordinator was easy to reach and sorted our Kandy to Ella train booking without us even asking. Booking independently felt more flexible in theory, but this was just better in practice.
WhatsApp Replies Came Before I Finished Worrying
My wife and I were planning our first international trip together and honestly had no idea where to start with Sri Lanka. A friend suggested TourGrids, and after a couple of calls and a long WhatsApp chat, we were convinced. They assigned us a coordinator named Rohit who was genuinely on top of everything. Any small doubt — cab timing, hotel check-in, local sim — he'd reply within minutes, even on the day we landed in Colombo. No waiting, no vague answers. Hotels were proper good, itinerary covered Sigiriya and Ella without feeling rushed. Pricing was transparent from the start, no surprise charges at the end. Really glad we went with them.
Sri Lanka Cabs and Hotels Both Delivered
Traveled to Sri Lanka with my wife last month and honestly the hotels TourGrids picked were the highlight. Every property was well-located, clean, and a couple of them were proper resort-level — way better than what I'd have found scrolling online myself. The cab transfers between cities were also on point. Driver was always waiting at the right time, no confusion at checkpoints or ferry crossings. I'd spoken to their coordinator a few times on WhatsApp before booking and he understood our budget without us having to repeat ourselves. No surprises on arrival, no last-minute scrambling. For a couple's trip, that kind of reliability really matters.
