Itinerary
Arrival in Paro — Welcome to the Kingdom of Bhutan
Arrive at Paro International Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, visit Paro Rinpung Dzong and the nearby Ta Dzong (National Museum) to get an orientation to Bhutanese history and art. Enjoy a relaxed evening and a briefing for the pilgrimage circuit.
Activities are light on arrival to help acclimatize.
Paro: Tiger’s Nest Hike or Cultural Sightseeing
Optional morning hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) — a 4–5 hour round trip (moderate to strenuous). For those preferring a lighter day, explore Kyichu Lhakhang and village trails around Paro. In the evening, participate in a short puja or meditation session at a local monastery.
If you plan to hike to Tiger’s Nest, start early and bring layered clothing, water, and sturdy shoes.
Thimphu: Capital Sights & Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass
Drive to Thimphu after breakfast. Visit Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, and Changangkha Lhakhang. After lunch depart for Punakha crossing the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100 m) with its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic Himalayan views. Arrive in Punakha in the late afternoon.
Carry a light jacket for Dochula Pass; conditions can be windy and cool.
Punakha: Dzong, Suspension Bridge & Riverside Walks
Visit the exquisite Punakha Dzong, the historical seat of Bhutanese government, beautifully set at the confluence of the Pho and Mo rivers. Walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, then stroll to the Rangjung Kharsapani viewpoints or enjoy a relaxed afternoon by the riverside.
Punakha sits at a lower altitude — expect warmer temperatures. Respect monastic areas and dress modestly.
Chimi Lhakhang Pilgrimage Day — Blessings & Village Immersion
Today is the core of the pilgrimage: travel through scenic villages to Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple). Receive a blessing from the resident monk, walk the prayer path, and learn about local fertility rituals and legends associated with Drukpa Kunley (the Divine Madman). Spend time meeting villagers and visiting nearby prayer houses.
Pilgrims often bring offerings (candles, tsampa); modest clothing is required for temple visits.
Paro: Sacred Sites, Drugyel Ruins & Cultural Farewell
Return to Paro. En route or upon arrival visit Drugyel Dzong (ruins) and Kyichu Lhakhang if not already covered. Spend the afternoon browsing Paro’s handicraft shops for traditional Bhutanese textiles and souvenirs. In the evening enjoy a farewell traditional Bhutanese cultural performance (where available).
Keep souvenirs small and light for flight luggage limits.
Departure — Bhutan Till We Meet Again
Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. If time permits, enjoy a final short walk in Paro or visit a nearby monastery for last-minute prayers and reflections.
Check flight times and allow sufficient time for airport formalities; international flights often depart early.

Bhutan Stays Were a Class Apart
We were a couple planning our first trip to Bhutan and honestly had no idea where to start. A friend referred TourGrids and after one WhatsApp conversation, things just fell into place. What really stood out was the hotel selection — every property they picked felt thoughtful, not just filler options to fill the itinerary. One resort near Punakha had mountain views we were not expecting at that price point. The cab arrangements were equally solid — drivers were on time, vehicles were comfortable, and transfers between towns never felt rushed or disorganised. No last-minute surprises, no hidden charges. The coordinator was reachable throughout and actually knew what they were talking about.
Bhutan Came Together Faster Than I Expected
I was honestly not sure how much work goes into planning a Bhutan trip until I started researching on my own. Gave up within a day and called TourGrids. The guy I spoke to — Rahul, I think — asked the right questions from the start: how many days, what kind of hotels, whether my wife and I preferred sightseeing-heavy days or relaxed ones. Two calls later, the itinerary was sitting in my WhatsApp. We asked to swap one hotel and add a monastery visit — both changes were done without any fuss. No surprise costs at the end either. The trip itself was beautiful, and the planning part genuinely gave us zero stress.
Bhutan Trip Planned While I Was Still Skeptical
Honestly, I was nervous about handing over the entire trip to a company I'd never used before. My husband and I had been planning Bhutan for almost a year and kept delaying because the logistics felt overwhelming. A friend suggested TourGrids, so I messaged them on WhatsApp not expecting much. Within two days, they had a full itinerary ready — flights, hotels, cabs, permits, everything. Our coordinator Priya was very responsive throughout, answered all my paranoid questions without making me feel like I was being a pain. Hotels were proper good, no surprise costs showed up later. First time I've handed over a trip completely and not regretted it.
Hotels in Bhutan Were a Lovely Surprise
We were a little nervous booking Bhutan through a company we'd only spoken to over WhatsApp and a couple of calls, but TourGrids genuinely came through. The properties they arranged — especially in Paro and Punakha — were proper good. Clean, well-located, and the kind of places you'd actually want to spend time in after a full day of sightseeing. Cab transfers were always on time, drivers were courteous, and there was never that awkward moment of figuring out who's picking us up or where. My husband and I had a really relaxed trip because the logistics just worked. No surprises on the ground, no last-minute scrambling — just a well-put-together Bhutan itinerary that held up.
Bhutan for Less Than I Expected to Spend
I had priced out a Bhutan trip independently last year and given up — between hotels, the SDF fee, transport, and permits, the numbers just didn't add up. TourGrids put together a 6-night package for me and my wife that actually came under what I had budgeted on my own. Everything was included — proper 3-star hotels in Thimphu and Paro, all meals, airport transfers, a private cab throughout, and the permit paperwork. The coordinator was reachable on WhatsApp at odd hours and no hidden charges appeared at checkout. What we paid is what we paid. Bhutan itself was stunning, and not having to chase bookings made a real difference.
