Travel toward the hill country. Families may choose the scenic train ride from Kandy to the Nuwara Eliya region (book in advance for reserved seats). Drive down to the southern coast via the Southern Expressway. Stop at the historic Galle Fort — wander ramparts, boutique shops and enjoy a family lunch with sea views. Continue to Bentota for beach time, water sports or simply relaxing at a seaside resort. Bentota offers calm waters suitable for children and a range of family-friendly activities.

Tip: Schedule the drive so you reach Bentota by late afternoon to enjoy sunset on the beach.

After a relaxed breakfast, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (approximately 2–3 hours from Bentota) for your departure flight. Alternatively, extend your stay with additional beach days or a bespoke northern/southern extension.

If your flight is late in the evening, consider a short Colombo city stop for gift shopping or a quick urban tour.
