Itinerary
Arrival in Jaisalmer & Desert Welcome
Arrive in Jaisalmer (by train/flight/road). Meet & transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring the local market. In the evening, transfer to Sam Sand Dunes for a quintessential desert experience — enjoy a camel safari during sunset, followed by a traditional Rajasthani cultural program around a bonfire with local folk music and dinner.
Tip: Carry a light shawl for desert evenings; temperatures can drop after sunset.
Jaisalmer Heritage & Fort Exploration
Full day sightseeing of the golden city. Visit the imposing Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Qila) and wander through its bustling lanes. Explore ornate Patwon Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, and the ancient Jain temples within the fort. Later, relax at Gadisar Lake and browse local handicrafts and textiles in the bazaars.
Special note: The fort is a living fort with homes and shops — respect local privacy while photographing.
Drive to Jodhpur via Scenic Route
After breakfast, check out and drive to Jodhpur (approx. 5–6 hours). En route you may opt for a short stop at Osian (ancient temples) or scenic desert hamlets. Arrive in Jodhpur and check into your hotel. Evening at leisure — stroll around the Clock Tower Bazaar to taste local snacks and shop for spices and handicrafts.
Tip: Keep water and sun protection handy during drives.
Jodhpur Forts & Palace Tour
Explore the blue city. Visit the towering Mehrangarh Fort, enjoy panoramic views of Jodhpur, and explore the museum inside the fort. Walk to Jaswant Thada — a beautiful marble cenotaph — and visit the grandeur of Umaid Bhawan Palace (museum & exterior views). Evening free for local shopping or optional heritage dinner.
Highlights: Mehrangarh Fort museum, panoramic ramparts, local shops at Sardar Market.
Drive to Udaipur with Ranakpur Stop
After breakfast, depart for Udaipur (approx. 4–5 hours). On the way, visit the spectacular Ranakpur Jain Temples (famous for intricate marble architecture) or choose the Kumbhalgarh Fort option (longer drive, powerful fort walls and vistas). Arrive in Udaipur by evening and check in to your hotel located near the lakeside.
Optional: Kumbhalgarh day trip for families who prefer forts to temples — requires early departure.
Udaipur City Palace & Lake Pichola Cruise
Begin your Udaipur experience with a visit to the majestic City Palace complex, exploring museums, courtyards and terraces. Walk to Jagdish Temple and later enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Pichola to view the Jag Mandir islands and the splendid lakeside palaces. Capture sunset views from the water — a highlight of the tour.
Tip: Evening boat rides are popular; book in advance during peak season (Oct–Mar).
Kumbhalgarh Excursion or Local Udaipur Leisure
Choose between:
- Day trip to Kumbhalgarh Fort (UNESCO-style fortress with long walls and panoramic views) — great for families who enjoy forts and light treks.
- Or a relaxed Udaipur day covering Saheliyon Ki Bari, Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum, and leisure time by the lake; enjoy Rajasthani cuisine at a rooftop restaurant in the evening.
Special note: Kumbhalgarh involves moderate walking; comfortable shoes recommended.
Heritage Walk, Monsoon Palace & Departure
Morning heritage walk through old Udaipur lanes, visit local artisan shops and the colourful markets. Later, visit the Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh) for sweeping sunset views over the Aravalli hills and lakes. Transfer to Udaipur airport / railway station for onward journey.
Tip: For late departures, enjoy a final lakeside dinner or an optional cultural performance at a local venue.

Our Rajasthan Coordinator Replied Before I Could Stress
Booked a Rajasthan trip with my wife through TourGrids and honestly, the coordinator they assigned us — Priya — was the real difference. Before the trip, she was always available on WhatsApp, never left us on read, and when I had last-minute confusion about the Jaisalmer hotel, she sorted it on call within ten minutes. On ground, when our cab to Jodhpur was running late, she tracked it herself and kept updating us without us having to follow up. Itinerary was well-paced, no hidden charges came up at checkout, and the hotels were proper good for the price we paid. Felt like someone was actually looking out for us the whole time.
Rajasthan Hotels Were a Genuine Step Up
We were honestly not expecting the kind of properties TourGrids put us in — my husband and I have done Rajasthan before on our own, and the difference was clear from the first night in Jaipur itself. The heritage hotel they booked had this whole courtyard setup, proper good vibes, nothing like those mid-range places we usually end up with. Udaipur and Jaisalmer stays were equally well chosen. And the cabs — always on time, clean cars, drivers who actually knew the routes. No waiting around, no last-minute confusion. Our coordinator had everything lined up before we even landed. Genuinely one of the better-planned trips we have taken as a couple.
