Visit the Shankaracharya Temple (exterior viewpoint) and the famous Hazratbal Shrine. Evening welcome briefing and cultural orientation. Light arrival day to recover from travel.
Mughal Gardens, Old City Walk & Handicraft Introduction
Explore the Mughal Gardens — Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh — followed by a guided walk through Srinagar's historic Old City. Visit traditional craft shops and a papier-mâché studio for an introductory demonstration. Evening free time for shopping at Lal Chowk bazaars. Wear comfortable shoes for cobbled lanes.
Transfer to Village Homestay & Local Welcome
Drive to a nearby Kashmiri village homestay on the outskirts of Srinagar. Meet your host family and join an interactive welcome meal where you'll learn to prepare local specialties such as Kashmiri Rogan Josh and Haak. Evening storytelling and introduction to village life. Homestay amenities are comfortable but rustic, offering authentic local living.
Artisan Workshops & Village Immersion
Full day of hands-on workshops: participate in a carpet-weaving session, a papier-mâché painting workshop, and a willow craft demonstration. Midday village walk to learn about local agriculture, irrigation channels (karez), and community life. Evening cultural program with local music. Workshops are suitable for beginners — materials provided.
Transfer to Pahalgam via Pampore Saffron Fields
Drive to Pahalgam, stopping at Pampore to visit the saffron fields and learn about saffron harvesting (seasonal). Visit the Awantipora ruins (historic temple complex) en route. Arrive in Pahalgam, short stroll along the Lidder River and village orientation. Saffron viewing is best in autumn during the bloom (Oct–Nov).
Pahalgam: Shepherd Villages & Local Crafts
Spend the day in Aru or Chandanwari visiting shepherd (Bakarwal) settlements and local village homesteads. Participate in a willow basket-making session and learn about pastoral life and seasonal migration traditions. Afternoon leisure by Betaab Valley or optional short walks. Evening community dinner with local folk songs.
Scenic Drive to Sonamarg & Thajiwas Glacier Visit
Drive to Sonamarg, enjoying high-altitude meadows en route. In Sonamarg take a pony ride or short hike to Thajiwas Glacier, explore the alpine meadows and riverbanks. Return to Sonamarg for a relaxed evening under clear skies — ideal for stargazing. Weather can change quickly at altitude; carry layers.
Return to Srinagar, Final Artisan Studio & Pilgrimage Sites
Drive back to Srinagar. Visit a final artisan studio for advanced demonstrations (carpet finishing or lacquer work) and free time to pick up purchases. Short visit to Shankaracharya Temple (if not visited earlier) or a peaceful stop at Jamia Masjid in the Old City for pilgrims. Farewell dinner with the group. Ensure purchases are packed for travel.

Kashmir Cabs and Rooms Both Left Us Speechless
We had been putting off a Kashmir trip for two years, mostly because neither my husband nor I trusted random operators. A friend suggested TourGrids, and honestly, the decision paid off. The hotels they booked — especially the houseboat in Srinagar and the resort in Gulmarg — were proper good, well above what I was expecting at that price point. What really stood out was how clean and prompt the cab transfers were. Every morning the driver was already waiting, no delays, no confusion about routes. The team sorted everything on call before we even landed. No surprise charges either, which matters a lot when you're travelling as a couple on a fixed budget.
Our Kashmir Coordinator Never Left Us Guessing
We booked our Kashmir trip through TourGrids for our anniversary, and honestly the coordinator assigned to us — Rahul — was the real reason everything went well. Right from the planning stage, he was available on WhatsApp at odd hours, patiently answering every small question my husband and I had. When our Srinagar hotel had a room issue on day two, he got it fixed within the hour without us having to chase anyone. The itinerary was properly planned around what we wanted — not some copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time. No surprise charges at the end either. That kind of support genuinely makes a difference when you're travelling somewhere new.
First Time Trusting a Company With Kashmir
I'll be honest — booking a full trip through a travel company felt risky to me. My husband and I had always planned things ourselves, so handing over Kashmir to someone else was a little nerve-wracking. But TourGrids genuinely surprised us. Our coordinator Priya was available on WhatsApp throughout, answered every anxious question without making me feel like I was being annoying, and the itinerary she built around our dates was actually thoughtful — not just a copy-paste package. Hotels were proper good, cab driver was punctual, no hidden charges when we settled up. The whole trip just... worked. That kind of reliability is rare, and it means a lot when you're travelling somewhere as beautiful as Kashmir.
