Arrival at Paro — First Glimpse of Himalayan Bhutan
Arrive at Paro International Airport and meet your English-speaking guide. Transfer to your hotel and rest. In the afternoon visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, and Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong). Evening at leisure to acclimatize and explore the town markets.
Tip: Arrive early if possible to have time for a short visit; flights to Paro offer dramatic mountain approaches.
Thimphu — Capital Sights & Spiritual Centers
Drive to Thimphu (approx. 1.5–2 hours). Visit the giant Buddha Dordenma statue for panoramic valley views and stop at the Folk Heritage Museum. Explore Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan's government and monastic body. Optional evening visit to a local monastery for a short prayer or audience with a monk.
Tip: Dress modestly when visiting dzongs and monasteries; shoulders and knees should be covered.
Dochula Pass & Punakha — Mountain Passes and Riverside Dzong
Depart Thimphu early and pass the scenic Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens and Himalayan views. Continue to Punakha, the former capital, and visit Punakha Dzong, located between two rivers. If time permits, enjoy a short walk to the Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple).
Note: Weather at Dochula can be clear in winter offering spectacular views; pack layers.
Journey to Bumthang — Entering the Spiritual Heartland
After an early breakfast drive to Bumthang (Jakar). The scenic route winds through mountain passes and traditional villages, offering glimpses of rural Bhutanese life. Arrive in Jakar and check into your hotel. Evening free for rest or a short walk in Jakar town.
Note: The drive is long (6–8 hours) with beautiful photo stops — stay hydrated and carry snacks.
Bumthang — Monastery Circuit: Jakar, Kurjey & Tamshing
Full day exploring Bumthang's sacred sites: visit Jakar Dzong (the 'Castle of the White Bird'), Kurjey Lhakhang (meditation site with Guru Rinpoche's imprints), and the ancient Tamshing Lhakhang with its rare murals. Engage with resident monks and participate in puja if available.
Tip: Respect photography rules inside lhakhangs; ask your guide before taking pictures.
Burning Lake & Jambay Lhakhang — Pilgrimage Day
Visit the sacred Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake) – a revered pilgrimage spot associated with Terton Pema Lingpa — followed by Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples. Afternoon visit to local artisans and optional stop at Mebar Tsho festivals or local rituals when available. Conclude with a blessing or short meditation session arranged by your guide.
Important: Access to Mebar Tsho includes a moderate walk on uneven paths; comfortable walking shoes recommended.

Recent Bhutan Reviews
Bhutan Booked Blind, Every Single Thing Delivered
I had never handed over an entire trip to a travel company before — always booked everything myself. But my husband convinced me to try TourGrids for our Bhutan trip, and honestly, I stopped second-guessing that decision within the first two days of planning. The coordinator understood exactly what kind of trip we wanted — not rushed, not overpacked. Hotels were proper good, cabs showed up on time, and the itinerary had breathing room built in. We spoke over WhatsApp and one long call before booking, no hidden charges, nothing vague. Whatever I asked, I got a straight answer. Bhutan itself was stunning, and this time I actually got to enjoy it without managing logistics in the background.
Bhutan Felt Personal Because of One Person
My husband and I were a little nervous booking Bhutan through someone we'd only spoken to on WhatsApp and a couple of calls. But our coordinator Priya was just always there — before the trip, during, even when our cab got delayed leaving Paro. She replied within minutes every single time, no matter the hour. Hotels were proper good, exactly what we'd discussed. Nothing felt like a template package — it felt like someone had actually listened to what we wanted. Pricing was transparent, no surprise charges at checkout. Honestly, the trip going well had a lot to do with knowing someone was genuinely tracking things from Delhi.
Bhutan Hotel Full, TourGrids Already Had a Plan
We landed in Paro and found out our Thimphu hotel had overbooked our room — no warning, nothing. I called our coordinator Priya in a slight panic and honestly expected the usual runaround. Instead she was already on it by the time I finished explaining. Within 40 minutes she had us shifted to a different property, same category, no extra charge on our end. My wife was more relaxed about it than I was, honestly. The rest of the Bhutan trip — cabs, monastery visits, everything — went exactly as planned. No hidden charges at checkout, no surprises. This was our first time booking through an agency and it genuinely changed how I think about planning trips.
Bhutan Hotels Were Worth Every Rupee Spent
Travelled to Bhutan with my wife last month and honestly the property selections TourGrids made were the highlight of the whole trip. Each hotel was centrally located, clean, and proper good — not just budget fillers to cut costs. Paro resort especially was a level above what I expected at that price point. Cab transfers between cities were always on time, drivers knew the routes well, and there was zero confusion at any point. I had a few questions before booking and the team sorted everything on call within the same day. No hidden charges, no last-minute surprises. For a first Bhutan trip as a couple, this was exactly the kind of support we needed.
Bhutan Trip Where I Finally Stopped Doubting
Honestly, I was nervous handing over our entire Bhutan itinerary to a company I'd never used before. My wife and I had been burned by a local agent once, so the trust bar was high. But from the first WhatsApp conversation with the TourGrids coordinator, something felt different — they actually listened, asked the right questions, and built an itinerary around what we wanted, not just a standard package. Hotels were proper good, cabs were always on time, and there were no hidden charges when we settled up. One evening our hotel room had a mix-up and it was sorted on call within twenty minutes. First time in years I actually relaxed during the planning itself.
Bhutan Cabs and Rooms Both Felt Premium
We were a couple doing Bhutan for the first time and honestly had no idea where to start. A friend suggested TourGrids, so I called them up and within two conversations the entire thing was planned. What stood out was the quality of properties they booked — proper good resorts with mountain views, nothing felt like a compromise. The cab arrangements were equally solid. Every transfer was on time, drivers knew the routes well, and there was no confusion at any point. Our coordinator was reachable throughout on WhatsApp and sorted a small room preference issue before we even had to follow up. Really glad we handed this one off.
