Itinerary
Arrival in Udaipur — Lakeside Orientation & Sunset
Arrive in Udaipur (railway station/airport pickup). Check-in and relax before a gentle lakeside orientation walk. Visit City Palace (exterior & museum), stroll along Lake Pichola and enjoy a sunset boat cruise (time permitting) for panoramic views of the palace and surrounding ghats. Evening at leisure with an optional traditional Rajasthani dinner.
Travel tip: Udaipur is best explored on foot around the lake; carry comfortable shoes.
Udaipur — Eklingji, Nagda & Local Hidden Gems
After breakfast, take a short drive to Eklingji Temple and the lesser-known Nagda Temples — fine examples of early Rajput architecture. Return to Udaipur for a walk through quieter neighborhoods, visiting local stepwells and artisan workshops. Spend the late afternoon at Fateh Sagar Lake or an offbeat viewpoint for photography.
Special note: Perfect day for street photography and visiting local craft studios.
Drive to Mount Abu — Hillstation Walks & Nakki Lake
Drive from Udaipur to Mount Abu (approx. 2.5–3 hours) — a scenic ascent into the Aravalli hills. On arrival, check-in and take a relaxed walk around Nakki Lake. Visit the Sunset Point or Trekker’s Point for sweeping valley views. Explore Dilwara Temples (if time permits) — famous for intricate marble carving.
Important: Mount Abu is the only hill station in Rajasthan and offers a refreshing break from the plains.
Kumbhalgarh Fort — Cloud Palace & Scenic Drive
After an early breakfast, drive to Kumbhalgarh (approx. 2–3 hours). Spend the day exploring the colossal Kumbhalgarh Fort — including the Badal Mahal (Cloud Palace) and the fort’s extensive ramparts. Optional short trek along the fort walls for photographers and history enthusiasts. Evening at leisure in the heritage hotel or village stay.
Adventure note: The fort walls are ideal for light trekking and sunset photography — carry water and a hat.
Ranakpur Temples & Marble Architecture
Drive to Ranakpur (approx. 1–1.5 hours). Visit the world-famous Ranakpur Jain Temples, renowned for elaborate marble pillars and serene courtyards. Explore nearby hamlets and scenic drives through aravalli foothills. Optional village walk and a quiet evening at the heritage guesthouse.
Tip: Ranakpur is best enjoyed with a guided history explanation to appreciate the temple carvings fully.
Drive to Jodhpur — Mehrangarh Fort & Blue City Walk
After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur (approx. 3–4 hours) with photogenic stops en route. On arrival, visit the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, explore its museum and ramparts for panoramic views of the Blue City. Stroll through the old lanes around Clock Tower and the spice markets. Sunset viewpoint at Chamunda Mataji or the fort walls.
Special note: The narrow lanes of the old city are excellent for candid photography and sampling street food.
Departure from Jodhpur — Optional Extensions
After breakfast, depart from Jodhpur (airport/railway drop). If time permits, extend to Osian for desert dunes, or continue to Jaipur/Ajmer/Pushkar as per your travel plan. This concludes the 6 nights / 7 days itinerary focused on offbeat forts, lakes and scenic drives.
Reminder: Customize pickups and drop-offs (Udaipur/Jodhpur/Jaipur) at booking — transfer times vary by route.

Rajasthan Hotels Were a Genuine Step Up
We were honestly not expecting the kind of properties TourGrids put us in — my husband and I have done Rajasthan before on our own, and the difference was clear from the first night in Jaipur itself. The heritage hotel they booked had this whole courtyard setup, proper good vibes, nothing like those mid-range places we usually end up with. Udaipur and Jaisalmer stays were equally well chosen. And the cabs — always on time, clean cars, drivers who actually knew the routes. No waiting around, no last-minute confusion. Our coordinator had everything lined up before we even landed. Genuinely one of the better-planned trips we have taken as a couple.
