Tip: Wear comfortable shoes for walking on fort ramps and narrow alleys.
Vintage Rail Journey to Jodhpur & Evening at the Palace
Board a curated vintage heritage train from Jaipur to Jodhpur — a scenic, leisurely journey evoking royal rail travel (approx. 6-7 hours by heritage train/coach transfer if train schedules vary). Arrive in Jodhpur and transfer to your palace hotel. Evening free to relax and explore local bazaars.
Note: Heritage train timings are subject to seasonal schedules; a comfortable private coach transfer will be provided if required.
Jodhpur: Mehrangarh Fort & Blue City
After breakfast enjoy a guided tour of Mehrangarh Fort, including its museum and panoramic city views. Walk through the Jaswant Thada and explore the bustling lanes of the Blue City. Afternoon at leisure — optional visit to Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum or polo grounds.
Family focus: Gentle walking pace and breaks included for older guests and children.
Drive to Jaisalmer with Scenic Stops & Fort Stay
Depart Jodhpur for Jaisalmer by private vehicle with a comfortable scenic drive (approx. 5–6 hours). En route, stop for photographs and refreshments. Arrive at Jaisalmer Fort and check into a heritage haveli or fort hotel. Evening free to stroll the fort ramparts and markets.
Tip: Carry sunscreen and a hat — desert sun can be strong even outside summer months.
Jaisalmer: Fort, Havelis & Desert Safari
Morning walking tour of the iconic Jaisalmer Fort, historic havelis such as Patwon Ki Haveli, and local artisan shops. In the late afternoon transfer to the Sam sand dunes for a classic desert experience — sunset camel safari, folk performance, and an overnight desert camp under the stars (or return to the hotel if preferred).
Note: Desert camp facilities vary — family-friendly tents with attached washrooms can be arranged on request.
Heritage Rail/Drive to Udaipur via Jodhpur (Scenic Route)
Return from Jaisalmer and travel towards Udaipur. Where available, enjoy another segment of the vintage rail experience or a comfortable private transfer through Rajasthan's varied landscapes (journey time varies 8–10 hours with stops). Arrive in Udaipur and check into a lakeside palace hotel.
Important: Long travel day — intercity transfers include regular rest stops and comfortable vehicles for families.
Udaipur: City Palace & Lake Pichola Cruise
Discover the romantic city of Udaipur. Visit the spectacular City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari, and take a serene Lake Pichola boat cruise with views of the Lake Palace and Jag Mandir. Evening at leisure with optional cultural performances.
Tip: Best time for the lake cruise is at sunset for memorable photos.

Rajasthan Hotels Were a Genuine Step Up
We were honestly not expecting the kind of properties TourGrids put us in — my husband and I have done Rajasthan before on our own, and the difference was clear from the first night in Jaipur itself. The heritage hotel they booked had this whole courtyard setup, proper good vibes, nothing like those mid-range places we usually end up with. Udaipur and Jaisalmer stays were equally well chosen. And the cabs — always on time, clean cars, drivers who actually knew the routes. No waiting around, no last-minute confusion. Our coordinator had everything lined up before we even landed. Genuinely one of the better-planned trips we have taken as a couple.
