Itinerary
Arrival in Colombo & Transfer to Sigiriya / Habarana
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo). Meet your driver and transfer to the Cultural Triangle (approx. 3.5–4 hours). Check in to your hotel in Sigiriya / Habarana. Evening at leisure or optional village walk.
Tip: If arriving late, rest and prepare for an early start tomorrow for Sigiriya.
Climb Sigiriya Rock & Afternoon Safari at Minneriya
Morning climb of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress — UNESCO World Heritage site — to see ancient frescoes, gardens and breathtaking views. After lunch, head out for an afternoon/evening jeep safari at Minneriya National Park (seasonal): witness the famous elephant gathering (best July–October) or enjoy general wildlife viewing.
Note: Wear comfortable shoes for the rock climb and carry water and sun protection.
Dambulla Cave Temple & Transfer to Kandy (Cultural Evening)
Visit the spectacular Dambulla Cave Temple (royal cave temples with Buddha statues and murals). En route to Kandy, stop at a local spice garden for a short demonstration and lunch. Arrive in Kandy, check in, and enjoy an evening cultural dance performance. If time permits, stroll around Kandy Lake.
Tip: Modest clothing is recommended when visiting temples.
Explore Kandy — Temple of the Tooth & Peradeniya Gardens
Spend the day exploring Kandy: visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) and the lush Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Enjoy local markets in the afternoon and sample Kandyan cuisine.
Note: Temple of the Tooth may be crowded; visit outside ceremony times for a quieter experience.
Scenic Train to Nuwara Eliya & Tea Plantation Visit
Board the picturesque train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (Nanu Oya) — one of the most scenic rail journeys in Asia (book early for best seats). Arrive in Nuwara Eliya (often called 'Little England') and visit a working tea plantation and factory for a guided tour and tasting. Evening stroll around Gregory Lake.
Tip: The train journey is a highlight — carry warm layers and a camera.
Horton Plains & World's End — Hill Country Hiking
Early morning transfer to Horton Plains National Park for a sunrise hike to World's End and Baker's Falls. Return to Nuwara Eliya for a relaxed afternoon of sightseeing — visit a strawberry farm or the colonial-era town center.
Important: Horton Plains requires early starts and is chilly; carry warm clothing and good walking shoes.
Transfer to Yala & Evening Safari
Drive from Nuwara Eliya to the southeast coast / Yala National Park area (Tissamaharama) with scenic stops en route. Check in and relax, then set out for an evening jeep safari in Yala National Park, home to Sri Lanka's highest leopard density and diverse wildlife.
Note: Safari schedules depend on park timing; nights in safari-adjacent lodges offer easy transfers.
Return to Colombo & Departure
After breakfast, transfer back to Colombo for your international flight home (approx. 4.5–6 hours depending on traffic). If time permits, stop at Galle Fort or a coastal viewpoint en route (request in advance). Drop-off at Bandaranaike International Airport.
Tip: Schedule flights in the late afternoon/evening to allow buffer time for road transfer.

Recent Sri Lanka Reviews
Sri Lanka Cost Less Than My Own Research
I spent two weeks trying to plan Sri Lanka independently — comparing hotels, checking cab rates, reading forums. Then a friend suggested TourGrids and honestly, their package came in cheaper than what I was piecing together myself. My husband and I got a 6-night trip with decent 4-star hotels, all intercity transfers, breakfast daily, and airport pickups both ways. No hidden charges when we actually paid — the final bill matched what was quoted on WhatsApp. The coordinator was easy to reach and sorted our Kandy to Ella train booking without us even asking. Booking independently felt more flexible in theory, but this was just better in practice.
WhatsApp Replies Came Before I Finished Worrying
My wife and I were planning our first international trip together and honestly had no idea where to start with Sri Lanka. A friend suggested TourGrids, and after a couple of calls and a long WhatsApp chat, we were convinced. They assigned us a coordinator named Rohit who was genuinely on top of everything. Any small doubt — cab timing, hotel check-in, local sim — he'd reply within minutes, even on the day we landed in Colombo. No waiting, no vague answers. Hotels were proper good, itinerary covered Sigiriya and Ella without feeling rushed. Pricing was transparent from the start, no surprise charges at the end. Really glad we went with them.
Sri Lanka Cabs and Hotels Both Delivered
Traveled to Sri Lanka with my wife last month and honestly the hotels TourGrids picked were the highlight. Every property was well-located, clean, and a couple of them were proper resort-level — way better than what I'd have found scrolling online myself. The cab transfers between cities were also on point. Driver was always waiting at the right time, no confusion at checkpoints or ferry crossings. I'd spoken to their coordinator a few times on WhatsApp before booking and he understood our budget without us having to repeat ourselves. No surprises on arrival, no last-minute scrambling. For a couple's trip, that kind of reliability really matters.
